1 Perfection Is the
Thief of Excellence

Perfection could look polished on the outside, but it is punishing on the inside. It can create fear, control, and the need to prove you're worthy, whether you realize it or not. Perfection creates a limiting mindset that plays on a loop, telling you that there's only one way to accomplish something, only one way for you to perform.

You have many purposes and roles in life, and your body goes through so many phases. Inherently, that means you must move in countless different ways throughout your day, not just your life. It is impossible to find perfection in every step.

Real excellence is owning that you are unique and made to shine – mistakes, flaws and all! Being who you are, acknowledging your strengths, weaknesses, highlights and lowlights (no, not your hair). It allows you to achieve more, to harness every element of who you are to blaze your own path.

Reflect Choose a role ("you," career, mom, etc.). Now, select one task you have been working on for a bit too long. Are you seeking perfection, or do you truly need more time to finish it? What are you trying to protect by needing this to be "perfect?"
Empower Find your own authentic excellence, not what the world says would be a perfect result. Don't compare it to yourself, your previous work, or anyone else's. Examine this task on its own merits.
Shine in Your Element™ Focus on where your elements shine forth in this task and recognize that what you've produced is more than amazing!

2 Beyoncé Said We're Flawless;
That Includes Mistakes

Okay, you woke up like this. But how can you go through the day honoring what is real, what is honest, what is becoming while still knowing that you are wonderfully and fearfully made? Making a mistake, a "my bad," oops-a-daisy, doesn't make you any less badass. And a mistake does not subtract from your capabilities or worthiness.

With honesty and reflection, mistakes equip you to handle the future, adding one more skill to your badass arsenal of flawlessness~ish. Simply put, it makes you more powerful when acknowledged. Being a real, grown woman means being honest about your mistakes so you can become who you are designed to be: a supernova full of power!

Reflect Think of your latest mistake. Did you respond to it with honesty and self-compassion or anxiety and self-punishment?
Empower Next mistake (because it'll happen), ask yourself, "What is this mistake revealing that perfection would try to hide?"
Shine in Your Element™ Remind yourself you are that B (but not Bey), then use what you learn from your next mistake to illuminate your steps.

3 Evolve Even When Mistakes Exist Because Perfection Doesn't

Women are taught to be composed, certain, and impressive at all times. Society has conditioned us to believe that we cannot "appear" until we are prepared. This is true no matter the circumstance: career, motherhood, our bodies… But there is no perfect career, mom, or body. There's only you, and you're designed to evolve in every season, equipped with what you have, not waiting to 'be ready'.

In our experience, much of the stagnation in our development stems from fear and anxiety about not knowing what to do or how to do it, or from feeling that we're just not ready. Those anxieties are driven by the fear of not being perfect, of making mistakes and others seeing us do so.

Don't give mistakes that haven't even happened power over your life. Don't allow them to dictate who you are, all that you know, and everything you will accomplish. Mistakes should give you confidence; confidence that you're growing, learning, and shining. We believe that type of evolution is revolutionary.

Reflect Where are you delaying your next season because you want your transformation to look cleaner than it is? What would a revolutionary evolution look like for you?
Empower Take just one action today toward the evolution you've been putting off. Evaluate how empowered you feel afterward… even if that's still a little scared.
Shine in Your Element™ As you grow and recognize new elements of yourself, you might be surprised to know some of what makes you shine was forged in a mistake (or two). Let those elements shine!

We're In It With You

Trust us, we're still working on letting perfection go, too. We've been conditioned our whole lives to always be at our best and never let anyone see what isn't great. (And social media made that exponentially truer.) We're reminding you that life isn't a perfect, linear line. It's full of mistakes and valleys that are meant to mold you and help you grow in the ways that are authentic to you.

You are unique; your mistakes will be, too. We all try not to compare our greatest achievements to others; we could benefit from not comparing our slips… or big dips, too. Just as comparison is the thief of joy, fear of mistakes is the thief of growth.

But how you move through mistakes, letting perfection go, acknowledging your brightest elements and those yet to develop, will be what truly brings excellence! Plus, you'll inspire other women facing the same battles to do the same, and we think that's pretty perfect.
